Employee Dorm

Inspired by the internal organization of the double-loaded corridor

Yongin, Kyungki-do, South Korea

Inspired by the internal organization of the double-loaded corridor, the building is split in two to frame the surrounding views. The pair follows the contours of the hillside site in order to make a transition between the formal order of the apartment complex below and an upland park.

This dormitory for unmarried employees of Samsung was designed by Margarita while at Samoo Architects and Engineers. 800 Residents are segregated according to sex, but share community program elements on the ground level including a gym, library, seminar rooms and a double-height dining hall.
