Sketchbook for a Writer

Each project hatches its own clutch of ideas.

Manhattan, NY

This sketchbook for a children’s book writer was commissioned during the summer of 2011. The client asked to see how we would approach revamping a pre-war apartment to fit her needs. The sketchbook demonstrates our understanding that “each project hatches its own clutch of ideas” inspired by the concrete skeleton of place, by the inhabitant and the accoutrements they bring with them, and by the particulars of situation and community. Design is process of inquiry which unearths physical structures, allocates space for the imagination, and constructs connections between things that often inhabit disparate worlds of thought.
